Aluminum

Aluminum has been identified as a neurotoxin. Unfortunately, because it is one of the most abundant elements in the Earth’s crust, it is cheap and widely used today. With aluminum in everything from foil in food to drinks in cans and bottles, the average aluminum exposure is so high that the consequences can no longer be ignored. Aluminum has been linked to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, autism, and more.

Although we believe in freedom to choose, having a large portion of population suffering from neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental conditions causes too much harm for those who don’t choose that lifestyle for themselves. It is time to ban the use of aluminum in the United States and around the world.

Aluminum is the most abundant metal in the Earth’s crust, but has no known role in the human body.

Gorilla glass was famously used for the first and many subsequent versions of the iPhone. Gorilla glass is known as an aluminosilicate and contains aluminum. Although the newest version des not contain aluminum in the glass, the phone now has an aluminum body rather than titanium or other material. Many devices use aluminum in both the screen and body. Holding and touching these devices for extend periods of time can leach the metal into the body.

Even though lead and aluminum are both neurotoxins, lead is listed in Prop 65, while aluminum is not. That is a failure by government regulators, and had that been changed, it may have led to decreased use and fewer public health consequences.
